Overview
Innovative forms of organizing based on increased levels of decentralization and self-management raise a number of key open questions that any leadership team will have to consider when exploring new models for their organization.
While many of these issues are variations of long-standing management challenges, under the premises of a new organizational model these issues look different and become even more relevant.
There are two types of issues: design issues and development issues. Design issues ask where you’re going, what is the target state. Development issues (or transformation issues) ask how do you get to this target state.
This set of development issues and the design issues concerning new forms of organizing can inform any effort to build the organization of the future. We use these issues to prioritize our Management Kits work on the Agile Organizing Kit, while deploying preliminary tools and resources in our workshop, coaching, and advisory work.
